Position Overview

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is seeking to establish a new full-time chair in Macroeconomics at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.

Founded in 1614, the University of Groningen emphasizes research excellence and ranks among the top 100 universities globally. The Faculty of Economics and Business is one of the largest faculties, serving approximately 7,000 students and holding prestigious AACSB and EQUIS accreditations.

The Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance is the largest within FEB, comprising nearly 150 staff members and over 20 PhD candidates. This department is an active research community, recognized for its high-quality output in international publications.

Role and Responsibilities

The chair in Macroeconomics will be integrated into the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance, contributing to the research program of FEBRI. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Engage in high-quality research and teaching in Macroeconomics.
  • Lead the Department's efforts in macroeconomic research and education.
  • Participate in curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Enhance the Department's international reputation and network in macroeconomics.
  • Supervise PhD candidates and mentor junior faculty members.
  • Secure external funding from various sources.
  • Foster research collaborations across disciplines.
  • Engage in public discourse on macroeconomic issues at national and international levels.

Qualifications

We invite applications from candidates with a robust background in modern macroeconomic theory, as well as those engaged in empirical and policy-related macroeconomic issues. Ideal candidates will possess:

Employment Conditions

This full-time position offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, starting from €6,099 to a maximum of €10,721 per month, exclusive of additional benefits such as holiday allowance and pension scheme participation.
