Role Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be an integral part of the New Products Development team, significantly contributing to the prototyping, testing, and commissioning of innovative products and services for our Mobile Robotics division. This position offers the unique opportunity to engage in a dynamic environment that combines the agility of a startup with the stability and resources of a well-established organization.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to aid in the development of system-level architecture and oversee the assembly of Mobile Robot products and accessories, providing practical solutions and engaging hands-on as needed.
  • Translate high-level, incomplete requirements into detailed designs for systems or subsystems of moderate complexity, completing tasks with the autonomy to make decisions with minimal supervision, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Take ownership of your results, demonstrating considerable independence while recognizing when to seek assistance.
  • Conduct proof of concepts (POCs) to streamline new developments prior to production.
  • Work closely with Mechanical and Manufacturing teams to construct and evaluate initial prototype units.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in testing, documentation, and recording for POCs and product revisions.
  • Prepare for and engage in design review sessions.
  • Exhibit a desire to expand your skills, knowledge, and responsibilities.
  • Evaluate and compare internal and external technologies to inform business and product strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor activities, applying innovative thinking to development projects.
  • Demonstrate excellent technical judgment, creativity, and initiative with consistent attention to detail, maintaining a comprehensive perspective.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field with an Electrical concentration, such as Controls Engineering or Robotics Engineering.
  • Practical experience in the electrical engineering process, including concept development, analysis, simulation, design, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex electrical and mobile systems.
  • Proficiency in using standard electronic testing equipment, including DMM/multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with various data communication protocols, such as Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN, and EtherCAT.
  • Proficiency in advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD), simulation, and analysis software, including SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MathCAD, MATLAB, and EPLAN.
  • Familiarity with revision control procedures and volume production practices, including workmanship standards and data transfer to contract manufacturers.
  • Experience in developing DC electrical systems for mobile equipment, including lithium-ion battery selection and implementation, motor controllers, power electronics, PLCs, SBCs, and sensors.
  • Knowledge of functional safety design and regulatory standards (CE, ANSI, UL, EMC).
  • Experience in cable harness design and routing.

  • Experience in PCB design.
  • Controls engineering experience, including control loop implementation, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to enhance and refine electrical engineering processes.
