We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our research team at AMOLF, a leading research institute in the Netherlands. The successful candidate will work on a PhD project focused on metasurfaces for energy-efficient wave-based computing.
Work Activities- Design and optimize metasurfaces for performing common image processing steps in the optical domain.
- Investigate the limits of stacking metasurfaces for more complicated algorithms.
- Explore the possibility of realizing programmable, trainable, and dynamically reconfigurable metasurfaces.
- Develop novel materials as metasurface constituents, such as phase change materials.
We seek an excellent candidate with a master's degree in physics, photonics, materials science, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have strong social, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a passion for doing experiments and theoretical work.
Work EnvironmentThe successful candidate will be part of a collaborative effort involving the groups of dr. S. Rodriguez, Prof. F. Koenderink, and Prof. E. Verhagen. The research will be conducted at AMOLF, a state-of-the-art research institute with access to advanced experimental systems.
