PhD Candidate: Numerical Modeling of Plasma-Driven Nitrogen Activation

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing numerical models to simulate plasma-driven nitrogen activation. This involves working independently to develop code, collect and analyze data, and evaluate results in comparison to experimental measurements. Code validation and characterization with respect to numerical and physical parameters is also an essential part of the job.
The candidate will join a small team working on experiments and similar numerical models. Regular discussions, sharing, and presentations of work with fellow team members, colleagues, and wider audiences at international conferences are expected. The candidate is also expected to write several high-quality scientific articles, ultimately culminating in their PhD thesis.
Requirements- Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- General knowledge of low-temperature plasmas
- Preferably general knowledge of fluid dynamics
- Some prior experience with computational modeling
- Good programming skills (e.g., C, C++, Python, Fortran)
- Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
As a PhD Candidate at Maastricht University, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. We offer:
- Good employment conditions, with a salary based on experience ranging from €2872.00 to €3670.00 gross per month
- An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1.0 FTE, with the possibility of extension
