About the Team
The finance division at Thales Nederland comprises approximately 50 professionals organized into two distinct competence centers:
- Shared Services Accounting, Reporting & Controlling;
- Bid & Project, Industrial and Procurement Control (Business Control)
The Business Control sector is tasked with overseeing management accounting and program oversight for all projects and the supply chain within Hengelo and Huizen. We are seeking a Project Controller to assist us in our dynamic segment of Systems & Solutions based in Hengelo.
About Your Future Role
As a vital member of our team, you will act as the primary financial consultant and partner for the operations within your designated area. Your responsibilities will include delivering insightful financial advice, identifying and notifying stakeholders of potential risks and opportunities, and actively engaging in finance-related enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Strategic Financial Consultation: Function as a strategic business ally, providing financial insights and advice to facilitate decision-making within your area of responsibility.
- Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Serve as the main point of contact, swiftly identifying and communicating both risks and opportunities associated with projects and initiatives within your scope.
- Continuous Enhancement: Play a crucial role in promoting finance-related improvements, collaborating across functions to refine processes and systems, ultimately contributing to the organization's overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Effective Communication: Clearly and effectively convey financial challenges, insights, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, fostering understanding and alignment throughout the organization.
- Process Optimization: Ensure that financial processes are routinely reviewed, updated, and adapted to meet the evolving needs of a dynamic organization, contributing to ongoing optimization and effectiveness.
Main Tasks Include:
- Preparing reports, budgets, forecasts, and analyses for senior management regarding all costs and financial data for the projects you oversee.
- Monitoring and challenging project expenditures and deliveries on assigned programs/products.
- Evaluating, monitoring, and implementing policies, practices, and functional performance standards.
- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets, business plans, and forecasts.
- Supporting the preparation and presentation of our bids as a key member of the bid team.
- Ensuring financial integrity and compliance with processes.
- Contributing to internal improvement and change initiatives.
- Collaborating effectively across various organizational levels.
Why You Would Be a Good Fit
You possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or a closely related field, with relevant work experience being advantageous. You have a strong affinity for technical processes and a solid understanding of MS Office. Your ability to comprehend complex processes and demonstrate strong financial acumen is essential.
Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch are required (French is a plus), including the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, fostering understanding and alignment. You are naturally curious and can evolve into a professional role as a business partner. You exhibit agility and resilience in navigating change and ambiguity, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a continuous improvement mindset.
Familiarity with ERP systems (such as Oracle/SAP) is a significant advantage.
