Job Context

The European Serious & Organised Crime Centre (ESOCC) Department, Operations Directorate, is seeking a highly skilled professional to support the Operational Task Force (OTF) as a short-term secondment. The OTF is a temporary group of experts from Member States and Europol, working together to combat serious and organised crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and analyse High Value Targets and their associates, whose activities affect the EU Member States.
  • Draft intelligence reports to relevant EU Member States and other countries, respecting data protection requirements.
  • Coordinate with Analysis Projects to provide Europol services and products to Member States and other countries in relation to HVT investigations.
  • Promote information exchange between Europol and concerned Member States/third parties to enhance the situational picture on serious and organised crime affecting the EU.
  • Support relevant investigations from Europol headquarters or any other relevant location.
  • Conduct open-source research.

Requirements

  • Be a member of a competent authority in the meaning of the Article 2a) of the Europol Regulation and enjoy full rights as a citizen of a Member State.
  • Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union and of a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union.
  • Have at least three years of professional experience in the field of law enforcement relevant to the duties to be carried out during the short-term secondment.

Additional Requirements

  • Have sound knowledge of particular ongoing investigations or direct involvement in respective investigative or intelligence proceedings at national level, detailed in the operational plan of the OTF.
  • Be a member of a competent authority of a participating Member State of the OTF – Germany, Netherlands, Romania.
  • Have direct access to relevant national databases of the seconding authority subject to applicable law and MS authorisation.
  • Have experience in developing, coordinating and conducting serious and organised crime investigations, especially in relation to fighting international heroin trafficking and related organised crime.
  • Experience in drafting extensive intelligence and/or analysis reports.

Desirable

  • SIENA access rights.
  • Knowledge of Turkish, Kurdish, Farsi, Pashto, Dari or Urdu languages.
  • Experience in working in an international working environment.
  • Experience in working with Europol.
  • Experience in handling large sets of data.
