As a Junior Backend Engineer, you'll be part of our Engineering team, responsible for delivering the best experience across our platforms by building best-in-class products for search & discovery, bidding, curation, logistics, payments, and support.

Job Description

We're looking for a talented software engineer to join our team in Amsterdam. As a Junior Software Engineer, you'll work on improving and delivering product innovations for our platform, collaborating with product designers, product owners, front, back, and mobile engineers.

  • You'll design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve microservices and features.
  • You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to share new ideas and make our processes more efficient.
  • You'll support our great engineering culture by documenting and advocating for best development practices.
  • You'll learn new technologies and participate in our Technical Week: a week dedicated to promoting creativity, innovation, and knowledge sharing across domains.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • At least 1 year of experience in your first full-time job.
  • A completed Master's degree.
  • Some experience collaborating with others in a professional or academic setting.
  • Experience with at least one mainstream programming language (we use Ruby) and the willingness to learn other programming languages as necessary.
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
