Job Description: Materials Scientist for Sustainable AdhesivesWe are seeking an ambitious and talented Materials Scientist to join our team as a researcher on the development of smart adhesives for sustainable and recyclable applications in the automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries.
The successful candidate will work on the synthesis of reversible molecular precursors, polymers, and characterization of their properties. This role involves collaborating with a project team of experienced researchers, including your TNO supervisor, to achieve project goals.
As a Materials Scientist, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in laboratory environments, develop new analysis techniques, and apply your knowledge to drive innovation in materials science.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and synthesis of reversible molecule precursors and polymers;
- Characterization of synthesized materials using techniques like DSC, TGA, NMR, and FTIR;
- Evaluation of material performance through rheology and tensile stress testing;
- Analysis of experimental data and presentation of results during project meetings;
- Preparation of technical reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in chemistry (polymer or organic), chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field. You should also possess:
- A keen interest in researching materials for sustainability and recycling;
- Experience working in laboratory environments, preferably with synthetic organic chemistry and familiarity with analytical techniques;
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills, with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
