About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Systems Engineer to join our team at SBM Offshore. The successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering, design, and optimization of metering systems to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of hydrocarbon production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Metering System Engineering: Lead the design, engineering, testing of Fiscal, Custody Transfer, Allocation and Operational metering systems as well as prover systems, ensuring they meet operational, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance: Ensure all metering systems comply with relevant industry standards, including API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS) for hydrocarbon liquids and AGA requirements for gas measurement, including relevant analyzers.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications and datasheets to enable a metering system integrator to design and build the metering system as an overall package, usually as one or more skids.
  • Package Engineering: Manage the metering system package from conception through to completion, including technical bid evaluation, scheduling, vendor document review and testing at vendor premise and possibly at final installation location.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving metering systems and implement best practices.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in metering within the upstream O&G (offshore) industry.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in a similar role at an engineering contractor, end user, or metering system supplier.
  • Field Instrumentation: Extensive experience in specifying and factory testing of field instrumentation.
  • Analyzers: Experience with sampling and relevant on-line analyzer systems such as density meter, BS&W, gas composition.
  • Flow Meters: Extensive experience in specifying and factory testing of various types of flowmeters e.g. Turbine, Cone, Orifice, Coriolis and Ultrasonic type and dedicated flow computers.
  • Prover systems: Experience in specifying and factory testing of automated prover systems like ball prover and compact prover and proving accuracy requirements, as well as reporting requirements.
  • Skidded systems: Experience with interfacing with Piping and Structural disciplines, agreeing on skid space and tie-ins.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
