Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineering student to join our team at ASML as a Fluid Dynamics Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing the wetting behavior of liquid films and fluid mechanics of a water extraction system, combining two-phase flow, evaporation, capillary and pressure driven microfluidics.

Your Assignment

This project will focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). You will perform numerical simulations of water flow and wetting behavior inside immersion lithography scanners. The challenge in this assignment lies in modelling the proper turbulence damping at the water-gas interface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform an extensive literature review of the available turbulence models;
  • Implement a subset of models for ASML flow problem;
  • Support your work with proper databasing and documentation;
  • Work with open source and/or commercial simulation software packages available at ASML;
  • Perform simulation data analysis and provide quantitative data to compare to experiments.

Requirements

  • You are busy with your master's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Applied Physics;
  • You are specializing in fluid dynamics;
  • You are skilled in tooling like CFD (STARCCM+, COMSOL, OPENFOAM, BASILISK, etc.);
  • You are solution oriented and have a hands-on mentality;
  • You have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
