IT Support Specialist in Educational Innovation

The University of Hong Kong is a prestigious institution dedicated to excellence in both research and education. The Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) is a newly formed department aimed at advancing teaching and learning methodologies across various fields by advocating best practices in pedagogy, assessment, e-learning, and feedback, all grounded in educational research.

Position Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering technical assistance for diverse programs, events, and workshops;
  • Managing helpdesk operations, troubleshooting, and upkeep of computing and audiovisual equipment;
  • Offering basic media production services, including video and photography;
  • Creating and sustaining web applications;
  • Working autonomously to meet deadlines while ensuring exceptional customer service;
  • Occasionally working on Saturdays and evenings.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

Candidates should hold a higher diploma in Computer Science or a related field, along with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in Technical Support, possessing knowledge in PC support and system administration. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities are required. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, as on-the-job training will be provided. Candidates with greater experience and/or advanced qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position.

Benefits Offered

The appointment will be on a fixed-term full-time contract for a duration of 2 years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. A competitive salary aligned with qualifications and experience will be provided, along with a contract-end gratuity and a 10% contribution to a retirement benefits scheme based on the basic salary. Additional benefits include annual leave and medical coverage.
