Avery Dennison Smartrac is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished Data Scientist to join its European Materials Group Finance team.
About Your RoleIn this critical position, you will be responsible for driving business insights, improving efficiency, and unlocking value for our customers. You will interact with business leaders across functions and engage the business in data-driven debates.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and analyze data using exploratory mathematical and statistical techniques based on the scientific method.
- Formulate and lead guided, multifaceted analytic studies against large volumes of data.
- Coordinate research and analytic activities utilizing various data points, unstructured and structured, and employ programming to clean, massage, and organize the data.
- Analyze problems and determine root causes.
- Translate complex results into simple, clear conclusions and visualizations.
- Explain sophisticated data science concepts in an understandable manner.
- Define company data assets, data models, and jobs to populate data models.
- Work closely with all European business units and cross-functional teams to develop future models with the ability to link results to business processes.
- Bachelor's, Master's degree (preferred), or other advanced degree required in computer science, business analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or other data-centric discipline.
- 4+ years of relevant industry work experience providing advanced analytics solutions, with a focus on forecasting-based models.
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages: Java, NodeJS, Python, R.
- Knowledgeable in some Cloud and Big Data technologies, such as Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Google Cloud Platform, Apache Spark.
- Analytics skills: descriptive statistical modeling & algorithms, machine learning algorithms, modeling dataset building, optimization, data visualization, pattern/cluster/segmentation analysis, predictive analytics, Analytics tools and Technologies like Qlikview, Cognos, Visual Basic, Apache, Oracle, SQL, GraphQL, NoSQL.
