PhD Position in Microkinetic Modeling for Water Splitting

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research group in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will work on microkinetic modeling of water splitting interfaces, with a focus on developing novel methods for control and optimization of electrochemical systems.
Responsibilities and Tasks- Develop and apply microkinetic models for water splitting, including nonlinear optimization schemes to translate impedance spectra into physico-chemical quantities.
- Simulate electrochemical data and validate models using system identification techniques.
- Extend models to estimate experimental data and identify limiting processes at the interface in collaboration with the experimental PhD student.
- Collaborate with researchers from the Control Systems group and other scientific groups to discuss research and broaden knowledge and expertise.
- Connect data to machine learning and artificial intelligence databases.
- Supervise students and disseminate research output at conferences and in scientific papers.
We seek an enthusiastic and talented control or system identification engineer with experience or affinity to chemistry. Alternatively, you can have a background in chemical modeling, microkinetic modeling, or theoretical physical chemistry/electrochemistry with affinity to modeling and simulations. Knowledge in electrochemical methods is desired. You are expected to work closely with the experimental PhD student and have superb communication skills and motivation to discuss science in a highly multidisciplinary field.
