PhD Researcher: Placental Biology and Disease Modeling

Job Description
You will be working on generating living cell, experimental, and numerical models that mimic and simulate placental function. This will involve combining various technologies to study the interactions between placental trophoblast cells, vascular endothelial cells, immune cells, and the extracellular matrix in a controlled micro-environment.
Key responsibilities include developing new methodological approaches and experimental setups, conducting scientific research, writing a doctoral thesis, publishing research results in scientific journals, and supervising students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead research projects in placental biology and disease modeling
- Collaborate with researchers in the Soft Tissue Engineering and Mechanobiology group
- Conduct experiments and analyze data
- Write and publish research papers
- Supervise students and contribute to teaching
Requirements
- Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Materials Sciences, or a comparable discipline
- Experience with cell and tissue culture, cell-cell signaling pathway manipulation, extracellular matrix biology, and cellular mechanobiology
- Research-oriented attitude, ability to communicate scientific ideas, and capability for independent thinking
- Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level)
