At Optics11, we specialize in advanced fiber-optic sensing solutions tailored for the energy and defense sectors. Our innovative detection systems are capable of monitoring variations in temperature, strain, pressure, vibrations, and other critical parameters with exceptional sensitivity. One of our notable applications involves the use of fiber-optic hydrophones to capture underwater acoustics. These hydrophones are often arranged in arrays to facilitate beamforming and pinpointing sound sources, which can be utilized for harbor security and infrastructure monitoring.
We are on the lookout for a driven and skilled intern to join our R&D division for a three-month hands-on internship. The primary objective of this role will be to achieve an optimal equilibrium between the damping characteristics of a mechanical transducer, the optical efficiency, and the long-term stability of the sensor under various operational conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory assessments on optical sensors to determine their effectiveness.
- Construct sensor prototypes for experimental evaluation.
- Examine the viscous damping properties of mechanical transducers.
- Evaluate the optical performance, focusing on light transmission losses in fluids.
- Investigate the sensor's stability over time and across different operational scenarios.
- Document and communicate findings, offering suggestions for enhancements.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to refine and enhance testing methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program (BSc or MSc) in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related discipline.
- Fundamental understanding of fiber optics and optical sensor technologies.
- Practical experience with laboratory instruments and testing protocols.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving aptitude.
- Meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in documenting experimental outcomes.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative spirit in team settings.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
