Job Summary

The HKU is seeking a highly skilled IT Officer to join its eLearning and Data Technologies Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing web and app applications, interfacing with databases and data analytics technologies, and providing support to project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web and app applications using various programming languages and technologies.
  • Interface with databases and data analytics technologies to support eLearning and other areas.
  • Provide technical support to project management and users.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certification in ITIL v3/4 and PRINCE2 is an advantage.
  • High-caliber fresh graduates are welcome to apply for an IT Technician position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of and relevant experience in at least two of the following areas:
  • Web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax).
  • Web and app programming (Java, Servlet, Swift, PHP, Python).
  • Native/hybrid mobile app development across different devices.
  • Authentication provider and protocol (Shibboleth SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, Apereo CAS).
  • Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and ADFS.
  • Database programming (JDBC) with Oracle/SQLServer/MySQL databases and data integration (REST API, JSON).
  • Data analytics technologies (Power BI).
  • NoSQL databases (ELK, Mongo DB).
  • Moodle learning management system and/or Panopto lecture capture system.

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, with a highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, contract-end gratuity, and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme.
