Job Summary
OCI Nitrogen North America Iowa is seeking an experienced IC&E (Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical) Technician to support the maintenance and troubleshooting of field instrumentation, analytical, and monitoring systems. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the installation, calibration, and repair of process control and safety instrumented systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform final control element inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement, as well as mechanical repair, calibration, and stroke testing.
- Support medium to large size control and instrumentation hardware.
- Commission and start up activities, including instrument loop inspection, loop check, configuration, calibration, and testing.
- Provide analytical equipment expertise, troubleshooting, calibration, and documentation for monitoring and supervisory systems.
- Support and maintain DCS, SIS, and PLC-based systems, with a focus on Rockwell A.B, Schneider Electric, and Siemens hardware.
- Develop and maintain documentation for plant-specific maintenance tasks, including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Adhere to LOTO and MOC procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 4-Year Apprenticeship or associate degree in industrial Instrumentation and Controls.
- 5+ years of relevant IC&E experience or similar experience.
- Fertilizer manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Advanced understanding and hands-on experience of process analytical equipment, control valves, actuators, positioners, feedback, smart positioners, and solenoids.
- Knowledge of DCS & PLC control systems hardware, electrical motor controls, and VFDs.
- Familiarity with HART communication protocols, IEC standards, ISA standards, PSM sites, and process safety management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
- Noise levels may require hearing protection.
- Ability to climb straight ladders, with some work requiring heights in excess of 100 feet.
- Confined space entry may be required.
