Rivertech First Captain Job Description

The First Captain is the ultimate authority on board our vessels, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient passage from point A to point B. As a seasoned navigator, you will command the ship's voyage with precision, leveraging your expertise in navigation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all vessel operations, including navigation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks, including administrative duties.
  • Develop and build strong teams.
  • Securely moor the ship and navigate through narrow spaces, such as locks, bridges, and rivers.
  • Take responsibility for the effective and safe operation of the vessel and its equipment, ensuring adherence to regulations.
  • Train new crew members in safety procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance in accordance with business guidelines.

Skills & Requirements:

This role combines operational and policy-related responsibilities, requiring flexibility, stress resistance, professional competence, and social skills. First Captains must be competent in communication, administration, and problem-solving, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and respond quickly in an emergency. A thorough understanding of nautical laws and regulations is essential, as is excellent leadership and communication ability.
