Project Overview
The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team in the development of novel electrospun bipolar membranes for water dissociation applications. This project aims to advance the production scalability, membrane performance, and durability of bipolar membranes, which are crucial for various industrial processes, including water treatment, acid and base production, and energy storage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop novel electrospun bipolar membranes with enhanced water dissociation rates
- Optimize membrane chemistry and structure for improved water transport and dissociation
- Characterize membrane performance using electrochemical methods and Scanning Electron Microscopy
- Assess membrane aging and durability through monitoring voltage under constant current
- Collaborate with the supervisory team to advance membrane technology and scalability
Requirements
- Master of Science background in polymer science, chemical technology, or physical chemistry
- Expertise in electrochemistry and membrane science and technology
- Practical skills in electrospinning and membrane characterization
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and learn new techniques
- Proactive attitude towards innovation and problem-solving
