Responsibilities:

Tencent Games' Venture Lab is seeking a highly skilled expert to elevate the potential of our portfolio studios and create a lasting impact on their games. As a Technical Director/Expert, you will work closely with studio developers, providing technical-related advisory and support. This role emphasizes a collaborative, advisory position, requiring travel and ensuring our studio partners have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in the competitive gaming market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our portfolio companies on production-related issues and challenges, including frequent travel.
  • Drive quality in a collaborative and constructive way, partnering with essential team members to create an organizational structure and processes that allow the team to efficiently produce high-quality work on time and on budget.
  • Involvement in strategic product planning, franchise, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback.
  • Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management. Work on Gaas and innovation promotions.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Drive quality in a collaborative and constructive way, partner with essential team members to create an organizational structure and processes that allow the team to efficiently produce high-quality work on time and on budget.
  • An inquisitive mind and understanding of the latest technology in game development.
  • Involvement in strategic product planning, franchise, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback. Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management. Work on Gaas and innovation promotions.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Technical Director or Director of Engineering.
  • Leadership experience in setting strategic direction. Outstanding organizational skills and ability.
  • Experience managing a production team, ideally externally, with medium-large teams or development studios within the video game industry.
  • An understanding of a wide range of project management concepts, tools, and approaches and an ability to tailor methods to meet the requirements of the team.
  • Experience delivering multiple high-quality entertainment experiences, understanding the motivations of your player base, and assessing innovation to deliver upon expectations.
