Xanthic is a prominent provider in the TICS (Testing, Inspection, Certification, and Services) sector, dedicated to ensuring the safety and compliance of maritime vessels across various segments, including merchant shipping, cruise lines, ferries, and offshore operations. With its headquarters in Rotterdam and a global presence through offices in Greece, Dubai, Panama, China, Singapore, and India, Xanthic serves approximately 2,500 vessels annually across over 400 ports worldwide. By leveraging a well-curated network of certified technicians, both in-house and third-party, Xanthic assists clients in adhering to increasingly stringent global and regional regulations regarding critical vessel equipment inspections, such as elevators, controls, and ballast water systems.

Growth and Strategy

In 2020, a private equity firm became a stakeholder, aiming to accelerate organic growth and establish Xanthic as a leading global provider of vessel equipment TICS services. Following two years of substantial growth, the private equity partner identified a significant opportunity for Xanthic to lead in a fragmented market characterized by local players and minimal global competition. They envision Xanthic as a unique platform for executing a buy-and-build strategy, enhancing service offerings, and expanding geographic reach.

Current Landscape

Since the acquisition, Xanthic has seen remarkable growth, doubling its revenue organically and expanding its TICS services through the acquisition of two companies. The workforce has grown from approximately 35 employees primarily based in Rotterdam to around 100 globally, with an increasing number of on-payroll technicians in key locations.

The Role

As Xanthic embarks on its next growth phase, we are in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who can act as a strategic partner to the CEO in executing a global buy-and-build strategy within the vessel equipment TICS sector. The CFO will be responsible for enhancing organizational performance by providing critical financial and operational insights to the CEO and COO, enabling informed decision-making regarding daily operations and long-term strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the CEO in driving the M&A agenda, evaluating the strategic, operational, and financial alignment of potential acquisitions.
  • Monitor organizational performance against the annual budget and long-term strategic goals, fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Develop and refine tools, systems, and processes to deliver essential financial and operational information to leadership.
  • Ensure robust internal risk controls and legal compliance.
  • Lead and enhance the finance team, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial board reports, effectively communicating insights to shareholders.
  • Oversee long-term budget planning and cost management in line with strategic objectives.
  • Align the company's capital structure with its growth strategy.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations and resource planning.
  • Maintain open communication with financial stakeholders.
  • Encourage feedback and collaboration within the finance team.
  • Act as a leader and team player, contributing to the overall success of the finance function.
Candidate Profile
  • Highly organized, punctual, and analytically adept, capable of challenging and refining operational strategies based on key performance indicators.
  • Ability to foster a culture of cost awareness throughout the organization.
  • Confident in articulating the company's financial narrative to investors and lenders.
  • Skilled in creating frameworks that enable team success.
  • Proactive and hands-on, with a strong 'get things done' mentality.
  • Adaptable to changing business conditions.
  • Decisive, with a preference for addressing challenges head-on.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a CFO in medium-sized, rapidly growing companies with an international footprint.
  • Proven track record in executing buy-and-build strategies, including financial due diligence and ERP integration.
  • Experience working under private equity ownership, including managing debt arrangements.
  • Strong knowledge of various accounting principles.
  • University-level education or equivalent in finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • Fluency in Dutch (native) and English.
