Job Description

The Department of Economic Geography at the University of Groningen is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to contribute to our research programme on Real Estate & Housing. As a PhD candidate, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative research environment, working closely with experienced researchers and supervisors.

Research Project

Our research project, QUEST, aims to examine how urban housing policies can reduce inequality. You will be working on developing models for quasi-natural experimental housing policy analysis, integrating segmented markets and examining housing choices across segments. Your research will focus on modelling households on waiting lists before and after the introduction of new allocation mechanisms, new construction, and policies linked to levelling up with housing.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in research skills, excellent results in the Master phase, and fluency in English. A Research Master degree or equivalent in (Public) Economics, Econometrics, or Statistics is preferred. Applicants with degrees in other areas will be considered if they have sufficient research-related experience and knowledge.

Conditions of Employment

We offer a temporary full-time appointment for a period of four years, under the condition of a positive assessment at the end of the first year. The salary will be € 2,770 per month, increasing yearly to a maximum of € 3,539 gross per month. You will also receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end of year bonus.
