Mechanical Engineer Internship: Shock Response Analysis

About the Assignment

As a mechanical engineer intern at DEMCON, you will be working on a student assignment that focuses on shock response analysis. The goal is to develop a design approach that ensures shock-resistant constructions without over-dimensioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extend existing analyses to a construction closer to an actual device construction
  • Compare different shocks and determine the severity of a shock for typical DEMCON equipment
  • Analyze the effect of an initial load/deformation on stress due to a shock
  • Perform shock analysis for multiple degree of freedom systems

Required Tools and Knowledge

  • Matlab and SRS tool
  • CAD modeling package (e.g., Solidworks)
  • FEM or multibody package (e.g., Ansys) for modal analysis, static structural analysis, and transient structural analysis
  • University Bachelor Mechanical Engineering or similar degree
  • Proficiency in applying the mentioned tools
  • Understanding of the referenced article
  • Affinity with dynamics and research aspects
