About the Role
As we expand our operations into Europe, ClearBank is seeking a highly skilled Dutch qualified lawyer (or equivalent) to join our team in Amsterdam. This position will report directly to the Head of Legal for Europe and will play a crucial role in our ambition to establish a European Bank.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the development of our legal function in the Netherlands. You will face diverse challenges daily, balancing detailed execution with strategic oversight.
Your Responsibilities
You will:
- Support the Head of Legal in building the legal team for ClearBank Europe and facilitating the business's expansion.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to legal team members focused on commercial matters.
- Collaborate with the Group legal team to advance the objectives of the legal function.
- Act as a business partner, working closely with stakeholders across various departments.
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Advise management on commercial and regulatory aspects of contracts, ensuring compliance with financial services regulations.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel.
- Maintain and update legal templates in accordance with legal changes and best practices.
- Assist with corporate governance matters as needed.
- Contribute to the development and review of company policies and procedures.
- Conduct legal training on commercial law and regulatory matters for the business.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Dutch law with significant experience in commercial law, particularly within the financial services sector.
- Expertise in contractual principles and extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of financial law, outsourcing principles, and relevant conduct rules.
- The ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience in team management and a commitment to team development.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
