Job Title: Chief Architect PSS

ING is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Architect to lead the strategic planning and architecture design of End-to-End Enterprise Architecture (EA) for Payment & Settlement Services (PSS).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Enterprise Architecture function for PSS, developing an architecture governance framework and ensuring consistency, reusability, and completeness of architecture.
  • Design, implement, and maintain reference architecture and target architecture blueprint and roadmap for PSS, resolving conflicts of design across all architecture domains.
  • Evaluate solution designs, design criteria, and checklists for acceptance of solutions, and resolve solution conflicts.
  • Set KPIs and targets for solution design, architectural complexity, coverage of microservices architecture, and other relevant metrics.
  • Define a clear architectural direction for transforming towards a highly digital, extreme customer-focused, and cost-efficient bank.
  • Create a high-performing culture to reduce technical debt and accelerate the simplification of the landscape.
  • Develop the craftsmanship of the team via the chapter structure.
  • Define roadmaps at different horizons, making explicit the key dependencies.
  • Create synergy among stakeholders to actively steer towards the target architecture.
  • Define target architecture for PSS, implement, and sustain initiatives in the Tech strategy.
  • Stimulate global interaction and collaboration across architects in different locations and countries, creating synergy among team members to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Support the definition of short-term activities and dependencies in the quarterly business review for the tribes of the country.
  • Guide and support changes to the IT landscape.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously refresh architecture standards, policies, and principles in an Agile environment.
  • Ensure architecture services and tools (API and microservices catalogue) are provided to developers.
  • Define processes to identify and adopt new technologies and application innovations and make these standard across PSS.
  • Lead best practices and uplift capability across the PSS Architecture community, ensuring Solution Architects adhere to standards via the Community of Practice lead Business Alignment & Risk Management.
  • Collaborate with businesses to keep enterprise architecture current and evangelize innovation.
  • Lead PSS within the MT EA, ISB, TSB discussions.

  • Influence different groups of stakeholders to understand the need for and to adopt change in renewing/refreshing architecture to strengthen controls, improve operating efficiency.
  • Attract and retain highly skilled, quality IT and Technology talent.
  • Patience, creativity, and adaptability are essential skills due to the need to obtain buy-in from different stakeholders.
