We are seeking an exceptional Environmental Economist to join our team at VU Amsterdam. As an Assistant Professor in Environmental Economics, you will be part of the Environmental Economics department of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM).

Key Responsibilities

* Develop a research programme in environmental economics, with a focus on one or more of our research themes: climate change, energy, food, ecosystems, biodiversity, circularity, and sustainable finance.
* Teach courses in environmental economics at the BSc and MSc levels, including thesis supervision.
* Contribute to administrative tasks and ensure a high-quality publication output.
* Initiate collaborative projects and work in teams.

Requirements

* PhD in environmental economics or a strongly related economic discipline.
* Strong research interest and potential to develop a strong academic track record in environmental economics.
* Research with a clear methodological focus and use of quantitative methods.
* Commitment to academic teaching in environmental economics and sustainability-related topics.
* Additional research and teaching experience is an advantage.
* Academic and personal leadership, with ideas that fit within the environmental economics section of IVM.
* Strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and generating societal impact through applied research.

What We Offer

* A salary of minimum € 4,000 (Scale 11.0) and maximum € 6,000 (Scale gross per month, on a full-time basis.
* A position for at least 0.8 FTE, with a contract initially lasting 18 months.
* Attractive fringe benefits and regulations, including a full-time 38-hour working week, holiday leave entitlement, holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, solid pension scheme, and contribution to commuting expenses.
