Compliance Officer & MLRO Job Description

Ebury, a leading FinTech firm, is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer & Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join our team in the Netherlands.

About the Role

The Compliance Officer & MLRO will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and be responsible for maintaining the integrity and compliance of our country branch. This includes ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, reporting obligations, and maintaining effective relationships with regulators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold the role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the country branch
  • Draft and update local policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Assist with reporting obligations and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines
  • Handle connections to regulatory portals
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication
  • Develop and maintain relevant parts of the compliance framework (AML/CFT and Regulatory Policies)
  • Liaise closely with Group Compliance (London) to ensure consistency with company policy
  • Help improve operational compliance processes based on local policies
  • Provide ongoing training on products and monitor sales teams for regulated activities
  • Keep abreast of ordinances, circulars, and recommendations from regulators and ensure Entity policies and procedures adhere to these
  • Audit first-line defence procedures and processes
  • Assist with external AML audits
  • Provide advice on high-risk clients/escalations and SARs
  • Assist with ad-hoc queries from business teams
  • Attend regulatory forums and industry meetings to stay up-to-date with industry standards
Requirements
  • Self-driven Compliance Officer with at least 4-5 years of relevant experience in the financial industry in the country
  • Solid knowledge in regulatory (PSD2, MIFID2, etc.) and AML compliance
  • Proven organisational and time management skills, excellent communications skills (written and verbal), and ability to gain credibility fast and influence key stakeholders
  • Comfortable working autonomously, with relevant Compliance/Legal qualifications and good commercial awareness
  • Fluency in Dutch and English is essential
  • Any professional certifications or a law/economics degree will be considered a plus
