Job Title: Global R&D Director

Location: Netherlands

Purpose of the Job:

Bekaert Heating Solutions is seeking a dynamic and innovative Global R&D Director to lead our Research and Development department. You will drive the development of cutting-edge products, secure patents, and shape the technological vision of our organization in the energy transition to heat pumps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the R&D roadmap focusing on sustainable heating solutions.
  • Lead the creation of the "product of the future" with a strong emphasis on IP protection.
  • Foster partnerships across the value chain to identify joint growth opportunities.
  • Continuously gather and analyse market intelligence to inform product development.
  • Cultivate a culture of creativity and innovation within the R&D team.
  • Manage and coach a high-performing R&D team, ensuring alignment with Bekaert's goals.
  • Maintain and share updated knowledge on global rules, laws, and industry standards.
  • Lead R&D project teams, ensuring optimal planning, execution, and communication.

Essential Skills & Competencies:

  • University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Mechanics or Energy.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in heating solutions.
  • Experience in the development of heat pumps or Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to interface with local and international teams.
  • Innovative and passionate about new heating technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and a strategic, helicopter view.
  • Excellent people management, project management, and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Commercially savvy with the ability to deliver messages effectively to diverse audiences.
