We are seeking highly motivated and talented PhD candidates to join our research team at the University of Twente and the University of Groningen. Our research group is focused on the development of advanced valence bond and quantum Monte Carlo methods for the study of excited-state processes in complex systems.
Project OverviewThe project will focus on the development and implementation of non-orthogonal configuration interaction as well as quantum Monte Carlo methods for an accurate and chemically interpretable description of excited states. The resulting methods will be applied to potential upconversion materials.
Your Profile- We are looking for PhD candidates with a strong background in theoretical chemistry/physics and a master's degree in chemistry or physics.
- A strong interest in method and software development is essential.
- Programming experience in Fortran or C/C++ is preferred.
- Excellent English writing and presentation skills are required.
- A full-time position for four years with a qualifier and a similar assessment in the first year.
- A gross monthly salary ranging from € 2.770,- to € 3.539,-.
- Excellent benefits including a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, and a solid pension scheme.
- Free access to sports facilities on campus.
- A training programme as part of the Twente Graduate School or Graduate School of Science and Engineering.
