TenneT is rapidly expanding to achieve its strategic goals and is at the forefront of the energy transition. We are seeking a dedicated Engineer specializing in Electrical Systems with a focus on Protection Systems.
Your Role at TenneT
In this position, you will leverage your technical expertise to support our ambitious 2GW HVDC grid expansion initiative. This project involves the development of multiple 2GW grid connection systems across various regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and review all technical aspects of secondary technology, specifically AC and DC Protection Systems, throughout offshore grid connection projects from inception to operational handover.
- Manage protection-related matters within offshore grid connection projects and facilitate cross-project coordination of AC and DC protection issues in high-voltage and extra-high-voltage sectors.
- Provide technical assistance during contract negotiations, as well as in the basic and detailed design phases, including the execution of factory and on-site acceptance tests and commissioning.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with other disciplines, such as operational grid management and offshore wind farms.
- Monitor and control functional tests and inspections, ensuring quality control during the construction and installation phases in compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.
- Support project managers in overseeing subcontractors regarding technical matters and organizational aspects.
- Review technical documentation and ensure alignment with underlying specifications.
Your extensive technical knowledge and experience will significantly contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and external contractors.
Candidate Profile:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- High level of independence, initiative, and assertiveness.
- Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments as per AWMF standards.
- Proficient in MS Office, with a willingness to travel and a valid class B driver's license.
- Practical experience with standard protection relays and solid knowledge of switchgear, power supply networks, and relevant standards.
- Professional experience in developing protection concepts, designing and testing protection systems for power transmission grids, and constructing electrical systems.
