About the Role

TenneT is a leading player in the energy transition, and we're looking for a skilled Electrical Systems Protection Engineer to join our team in Arnhem. As a key member of our team, you'll contribute to the realization of our strategic ambitions and play a crucial role in driving the energy transition.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support our 2GW HVDC grid expansion program with your technical expertise, coordinating all technical topics of secondary technology, including AC and DC Protection Systems, within offshore grid connection projects.
  • Coordinate protection-related issues within offshore grid connection projects and cross-project processing of AC and DC protection issues in the high-voltage and extra-high-voltage sector.
  • Provide technical support in contract negotiations, basic design, and detailed design, as well as the execution of factory and on-site acceptance tests and commissioning.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces to other technical disciplines, such as operational grid management and offshore wind farms.
  • Monitor and control functional tests/inspections and implement quality control during the construction and installation phase, in accordance with applicable framework conditions and guidelines.
  • Support project managers responsible for construction in managing subcontractors with regard to technical issues and organization.
  • Check technical documentation and compare it with underlying specifications.

Your Profile and Background

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and assertiveness.
  • Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments according to the AWMF standard.
  • Confident handling of MS Office, high degree of mobility, and willingness to travel, as well as a class B driver's license.
  • Practical experience in dealing with standard protection relays and good knowledge of switchgear, power supply networks, and relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Professional experience in creating protection concepts, designing and testing protection systems for power transmission grids, and constructing electrical systems.
