Electrical Protection Systems Expert

TenneT is a leading company in the energy transition, and we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Protection Systems Expert to support our 2GW HVDC grid expansion program.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating technical topics related to secondary technology, focusing on AC and DC protection systems, within offshore grid connection projects. This will involve reviewing and coordinating all technical aspects, from project start to handover to operation.
Your main tasks will include:
- Coordinating protection-related issues within offshore grid connection projects and cross-project processing of AC and DC protection issues in the high-voltage and extra-high-voltage sector.
- Providing technical support in contract negotiations, basic design, and detailed design, as well as executing factory and on-site acceptance tests and commissioning.
- Coordinating technical interfaces to other technical disciplines, such as operational grid management and offshore wind farms.
- Monitoring and controlling functional tests/inspections and implementing quality control during the construction and installation phase in accordance with the applicable framework conditions and guidelines.
- Supporting project managers responsible for construction in managing subcontractors with regard to technical issues and organization.
- Checking technical documentation and comparing it with the underlying specifications.
You will be a key player in ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and external contractors. Your extensive technical knowledge and experience will be invaluable in achieving this goal.
Requirements and qualifications
You will need:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Good interpersonal and team skills.
- A high degree of independence, initiative, and assertiveness.
- Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments according to the AWMF standard.
- Confident handling of MS Office, a high degree of mobility, and willingness to travel, as well as a class B driver's license.
- Practical experience in dealing with standard protection relays and good knowledge of switchgear, power supply networks, and relevant standards and guidelines.
- Experience in creating protection concepts, designing and testing protection systems for power transmission grids, and constructing electrical systems.
Language skills
We require good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
