Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Test Automation Lead to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with software development teams, focusing on test automation and aligning testing strategies across different teams located in various locations. You will be responsible for creating automated software tests, helping development teams create system-level automated tests, and ensuring comprehensive test documentation, execution, reporting, and alignment of testing across the Automation group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review requirements, user stories, and assess risks to ensure thorough understanding of project scope and potential challenges.
  • Create detailed test plans, including planning estimates, to guide project timelines and resource allocation.
  • Review integration testing and feature delivery to ensure seamless project progression and high-quality results.
  • Develop and review test specifications, implement automatic test scripts, and provide feedback on test specifications from colleagues.
  • Execute test cases, analyze test results, and write comprehensive test reports to communicate project progress and findings.
  • Report test progress and provide independent, substantiated release advice to stakeholders.
  • Promote product quality improvements through continuous process refinement and employee empowerment.
  • Lead test activities at software and system levels, driving innovation and best practices within the team.
  • Align testing and test automation strategies across the group, facilitating effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Design and implement automated and manual test cases to ensure comprehensive coverage and efficiency.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate sprint-based test automation team activities via the backlog, fostering a culture of productivity and goal-oriented teamwork.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and hands-on assistance to other team members, promoting growth and excellence.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for system-level test automation-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance processes, tools, and overall team performance.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • An agile mindset, allowing you to adapt quickly to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with Python or relevant test automation technologies, demonstrating expertise in automation frameworks and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with tool chains, including Jira, Git, and Jenkins, to streamline workflow and improve efficiency.
  • A solid understanding of test processes, methodologies, and standards, preferably backed by ISTQB certification, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Risk-based testing skills, empowering you to prioritize testing efforts, optimize resource utilization, and apply suitable testing techniques.
  • Excellent management and communication skills, facilitating smooth project execution and stakeholder engagement.
  • A well-structured approach to work, ensuring clear organization, prioritization, and time management.
  • Eagerness and drive to achieve project goals and deliver results within specified timelines.
  • A unique blend of orderliness and technical expertise, combining analytical thinking with hands-on practicality.
