About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to contribute to the development of innovative data-driven solutions at Schiphol Group. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing cloud-based data-intensive applications using Azure, optimizing wait times, and dynamically routing passengers to enhance the overall airport experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test cloud-based data-intensive applications using Azure, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Lead Engineers, Data Architects & Enterprise Architects to develop technical solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, helping them to grow and develop their skills.
  • Identify integration requirements of multiple data sources and design robust data pipelines to support business needs.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with data-driven solutions, including production data-pipeline deployment and management.
  • Strong Scala or Kotlin skills, with a minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Experience with message brokers, such as Kafka or Azure EventHub.
  • Proficiency in data processing frameworks, such as Spark, Flink, or Beam, for batch and streaming pipelines.
  • Understanding of logging and monitoring importance, preferably with experience in Splunk or OpenTelemetry.
  • 1+ year of experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with DevOps technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker, or Helm.
