Job Title: Software Architect of Innovative Solutions

Join Damen Naval, a leading shipbuilding company, as a Software Architect of Innovative Solutions. In this role, you will design and lead the development of cutting-edge software solutions to test and implement advanced technologies such as IoT, AI, robotics, and digital twins.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design the overall software architecture, ensuring alignment with Damen Naval's research goals and seamless integration with other systems.
  • Ensure newly developed software architecture aligns with the Damen Enterprise Architecture and coordinate with the IT architecture team for integration.
  • Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to understand software needs and translate requirements into technical specifications for the development team.
  • Identify and evaluate relevant technologies and tools for software solutions, considering scalability, security, and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Work closely with departments such as Engineering, IT, and Projects to ensure seamless integration with hardware components, considering the challenges of the naval (warfare) environment.
  • Ensure software systems comply with industry/government standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements relevant to naval shipbuilding.
  • Design scalable software architecture and optimize performance to meet the demands of complex naval research projects.
  • Contribute to the validation and verification of software systems and applications, helping to identify potential issues early in the development process.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for the software architecture, design decisions, and relevant processes to facilitate communication and knowledge transfer within the team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in IT or another relevant study with at least 3-5 years relevant experience or master degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks (e.g. C++/C#/Python).
  • Deep understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
  • Good command of the English, and preferably also Dutch language (written & verbal).
