Mechanical Safety Competence Lead

The Mechanical Safety Competence Lead plays a pivotal role in driving the development and sustainment of mechanical safety knowledge necessary to ensure the safety and compliance of ASML products with relevant rules and regulations worldwide.
Job Responsibilities:- Develop and execute the Mechanical Safety competence roadmap and related developments.
- Plan and implement improvement activities aligned with the Mechanical Safety roadmap.
- Develop and sustain Mechanical Safety generic knowledge documents.
- Design and deliver training content to empower design community members in their daily design work.
- Develop and sustain knowledge on robotics safety relevant to ASML products.
- Represent the competence in various levels of the organization.
- Support product safety and compliance targets of ASML and sustain mechanical safety compliance framework.
- Collaborate with other risk area leads to develop a common way of working.
- Support in-depth safety assessments and design reviews of mechanical systems and tools when needed.
- Build and maintain a network of local mechanical safety competence engineers supporting projects.
- Serve as the principal knowledge owner in mechanical safety, providing guidance and technical support to various teams.
- Lead the development and maintenance of mechanical safety protocols and standards for ASML.
- Ensure ASML's mechanical safety practices comply with all relevant safety regulations and standards, as well as industry guidelines and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Advanced certifications in mechanical safety (e.g., OSHA, CMSE, Robotics Safety) are highly desirable.
- Deep knowledge of Machinery Safety, including robotics safety standards and regulations of EU, USA, and Japan, Taiwan, S. Korea (China is a plus).
- Proven experience in mechanical safety with a strong focus on technical expertise and domain knowledge.
- 8+ years of proven mechanical design experience for complex systems.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety standards and documents in a design environment.
- Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, EN, NEN, KOSHA) relevant to mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret standards/regulations and make risk-based judgments.
- Multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience in means and methods is a plus.

Context of the position
The sector Development & Engineering (D&E) of ASML is responsible for the specification, design, and realization of the products in the ASML portfolio. Within the sector D&E, the cluster Mechanical Development (MDEV) is responsible for the definition, realization, qualification, and integration of mechanical functions and modules within these products.
The MDEV Human Safety Team works to embed mechanical human safety and compliance requirements into the ASML designs through active project involvement and creation of competence-based knowledge (training/awareness/documentation, etc.). The Mechanical Safety Competence Lead reports to the Competence Owner, Human Safety Team Lead, and the Global Product Safety Coordinator in the organization and is part of the MDEV Design Foundation Group.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
