Salary and Benefits
Your compensation package includes a gross monthly salary between € 4,361.31 and € 6,114.87, based on a full-time appointment and depending on education and experience.
You will also receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary, as well as 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week.
In addition, you will be entitled to various types of leave, such as (un)paid parental leave, care leave, adoption and foster care leave, and various other arrangements.

Job Description
As a Professional Doctorate Candidate, you will conduct research that reinforces academic and practice-based knowledge in the maritime sector, addressing topics such as repair innovations, sustainable restoration of parts of high value, and efficient repair processes.
You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, supervised by a professor and fellow researchers, and follow support courses to further develop yourself and your research skills.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between academia and industry, making knowledge practically applicable and contributing to a safer and more sustainable maritime sector.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
You should have up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair, as well as affinity with solid mechanics and materials engineering background.
Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable, and a good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1) is required.
Demonstrable research and publication experience is a plus.
