Postdoctoral Researcher in Human-Robot Interaction

About the Position
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team in the ERC Advanced Grant project ROBOT-BOND. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and empirical validation of a new theory on Human-Robot Bonding for longer term interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to further develop and empirically validate a theory on affective bonding with social robots.
- Conduct focus groups and field studies in special needs education, care for disabled adults, and therapeutic assistance for adolescents.
- Develop and optimize new short-form measurement devices to assess theoretical constructs in the model.
- Plan and execute research projects, collaborate with colleagues, and publish research in leading international journals and conference proceedings.
- Supervise PhD candidates and contribute to the supervision of their research work.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Communication Science, Psychology, Educational Sciences, Computer Science, or closely related fields.
- Strong interest in advancing the social-psychological aspects of robots in society, specifically in healthcare and education.
- Experience with empirical studies, research designs, and statistical and programming skills.
- Excellent academic writing skills and affinity with social technologies.
- Leadership qualities and experience in collaborating with colleagues and societal partners.
What We Offer
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers a challenging position in a socially involved and highly interdisciplinary organization, allowing for a solid academic development to build your future career. The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel and amounts from € 3, to € 6, per month, based on a full-time employment, depending on the experience and level of academic functioning.
