We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Research & Development department in De Lier, The Netherlands.

About the Role

As a Phytopathology Intern, you will be part of our dynamic team and work on the development of a detached leaf assay protocol for Powdery Mildew in one of our crops. Your tasks will include:

  • Conducting a literature review of detach leaf assay methods for powdery mildew;
  • Writing a research proposal based on extensive literature search;
  • Developing methods to inoculate powdery mildew in detach leaf assays;
  • Designing and executing experiments for pathogenicity tests in detach leaf assays and full grown plants;
  • Performing image analysis;
  • Analyzing and visualizing data effectively;
  • Writing a detailed report summarizing your experiments and results.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To be currently pursuing a MSc in plant sciences or any relevant field;
  • To have experience with laboratory techniques, preferably with pathogens and image analysis;
  • To have a strong analytical and critical mindset with problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude;
  • To be able to work independently and organized;
  • To have excellent communication skills and a good command of the English language, spoken and written.
