We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team at Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will be part of the Heritage program, focusing on the development of sun-oriented 3D environments for sustainable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine 3D models to simulate solar irradiance and environmental conditions over different time scales and spatial ranges.
- Employ big data analytics and remote sensing techniques to enhance the accuracy and applicability of these models.
You will collaborate with researchers from diverse disciplines within the Heritage program and work closely with experts in areas such as remote sensing, energy systems, and urban sustainability.
Societal RelevanceYour research will contribute to the sustainability of urban areas by improving the design and implementation of solar energy systems in aging neighborhoods, as well as addressing challenges like heat stress in urban environments.
Requirements- A master's degree (or an equivalent university degree) in a relevant field such as engineering (with a focus on energy engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline), with demonstrated interest in Computer Science, AI, or Data.
- A research-oriented mindset with a strong interest in 3D modeling, remote sensing, and sustainable energy systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various partners.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.

- Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation (go/no-go) after nine months. You will spend 10% of your employment on teaching tasks.
- Salary and benefits (such as a pension scheme, paid pregnancy and maternity leave, partially paid parental leave) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale P (min. €2,872 max. €3,670).
- A year-end bonus of 8.3% and annual vacation pay of 8%.
