The Role

As a Senior Compliance Officer in Conduct Compliance & Ethics, you will play a key part in identifying and assessing compliance risk topics and areas of attention. Your focus will be on coordinating and coaching people to ensure buy-in from colleagues and stakeholders. You will work closely with the Expert Lead Conduct Compliance & Ethics to set risk-based priorities, re-evaluate them periodically and ad hoc, and ensure proper compliance risk management. This role requires excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work across functional lines.

The Team

You will be part of the Conduct Compliance & Ethics (CC&E) team, responsible for content areas within that team. Together with the Expert Lead of CC&E and the team, you will identify and assess compliance risk topics and areas of attention. You will contribute to DBNL's vision 'sustainable progress for all' and empower ING to be compliant by desire and design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the steering and managing of the expert area Conduct Compliance & Ethics within the Tribe.
  • Contribute to DBNL's vision 'sustainable progress for all'.
  • Support the Expert Lead in the operational management of the expert area and provide perspective on decision-making for your content areas.
  • Manage the processes and activities within your content areas and provide accurate and timely reporting to the Expert Lead and Tribe management.
  • Steer collaboration between the content areas and the other parts of the Tribe.
  • Follow up on, advise on and challenge the compliance risks associated within your content area, define the applicable compliance requirements, establish mandatory policies, and/or written mandatory guidance on the appropriate implementation and embedment of compliance-related requirements.
  • Advise and instruct business stakeholders on compliance-related requirements, assist them in educating on how to mitigate compliance risks, and escalate identified issues in order to maintain compliance with laws and regulations and remain within DBNL's risk appetite.
  • Share best practices for continuous feedback loop to improve and execute the activities of the Compliance Management Risk Cycle.
  • Coach the team members within your content areas and be available as support in their day-to-day activities by contributing to a climate of learning and growing.
  • Establish and maintain strong (sustainable) relationships with key stakeholders, focused on a clear understanding of their challenges and opportunities. Navigate distractions and politics to deliver on objectives effectively for the content area.

Requirements

  • You are a senior Compliance expert with 7+ years professional experience in Compliance, Risk and/or NFR within a banking environment.
  • You have experience in coordinating and coaching people and are able to get people on board and ensure buy-in from your colleagues and stakeholders.
  • You have excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work across functional lines.
  • You have an university degree or equivalent.
  • You have an excellent level of English and Dutch (verbal/written).
