About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Assistant Professor in Biological Psychology to join our department. As a key member of our research team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative research projects in the field of behaviour genetics and molecular genetics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in international gene-finding consortia and contribute to the development of novel research methods and tools.
  • Lead the data management of the genotype database of the Netherlands Twin Register, ensuring high-quality data and innovative data analysis pipelines.
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in genetic epidemiology, behaviour genetics, and molecular genetics.
  • Conduct innovative research and publish high-quality papers in leading international journals.
  • Contribute to the acquisition of research funds and engage in societal impact activities.
  • Supervise and mentor students at various levels, including bachelor, master, and PhD students.
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, such as behaviour genetics, molecular genetics, (bio)statistics, or genetic epidemiology.
  • Strong background in statistical methods and programming languages, such as R or Python.
  • Experience in working with large datasets and a keen interest in behaviour genetics and genetic epidemiology.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strong research potential, with a track record of publications or grants.
  • Experience in supervision and teaching, with a willingness to obtain the University Teaching Qualification (BKO).
