Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Lake Engineer to join our team at STAFIDE. As a Data Lake Engineer, you will play a critical role in guiding the development team to ensure that our capabilities align with the needs of the NATO Enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the senior user expert, guiding the development team to ensure capabilities are beneficial to the NATO Enterprise.
  • Serve as a deputy Product Owner, managing stakeholders to capture and develop the requirements, architecture, components, and vision for the Data Lake ecosystem.
  • Engage with user communities to capture operational requirements.
  • Participate as one of the technical leads in yearly exercises such as the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX) in Poland.
  • Collaborate with nations to develop test plan scenarios, architectures, and support the execution of exercises as the key Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Conduct interviews with operators across NATO Enterprise to understand user requirements and translate them into solutions.
  • Produce detailed component specifications and transform them into designs for implementation.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance on the development and modifications of solution components to ensure alignment with relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards, and practices.
  • Develop software code if needed as part of the development team.
  • Ensure adherence to appropriate standards, including industrial, international, and NATO standards.
  • Offer advice on technical aspects of system development and integration.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical plans and ensure that appropriate technical resources are available.
  • Participate in sprint planning meetings to agree on the content and scope of each sprint, ensuring deliverables meet the defined standards.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Systems Integration using modern solutions like Modern C2 systems or industry equivalents such as Data Bricks, Apache Kafka, Sparks, RabbitMQ, or similar.
  • At least 4 years of experience in data translations, transformations, and modeling processes OR related experience in military message use, modeling, and/or fusing (e.g., TDL, CoT, NVG, LINK16).
  • Ideally a signals engineer with a military background, with strong knowledge of Military C2 system operations and integration in the ecosystem of the military domain.
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodologies (Agile, Software Development Life Cycles), with a certification in Agile software development and/or SCRUM being a plus.
  • Knowledge of JSON, XML, XSD is required; rapid learning of XQUERY, XPATH, and/or XSLT is necessary.
  • Knowledge of XSLT is highly desirable.
  • Capability to lead a team of contractors when required.
  • Comfortable presenting solutions to working groups with a flexible, cooperative, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Must hold nationality from one of the NATO nations.
