The Category Manager plays a crucial role in driving cost reduction and margin improvement for Plug Power. This position requires a technical expert who can own supplier relationships, develop strategies, and lead initiatives to reduce costs while ensuring supreme quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement long-term strategies for categories to ensure continuous deflation by leveraging volume, supplier, and product development.
  • Cost Savings and Quality Improvement: Leads exploring, developing, and validating opportunities in quality improvements and cost savings.
  • Market Intelligence and Supplier Management: Mitigate risk to the supply chain by understanding markets, economic conditions, and global events.
  • Volume Forecasting: Prepare volume forecast based on annual sales goals; communicate forecast as appropriate to the supply base.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Track supplier performance, provide regular feedback, and set clear expectations with suppliers.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Build strong cross-functional relationships and work with colleagues to understand their needs related to engineering and supply chain.
  • Professional Representation: Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering, and seven (7) or more years of related work experience.
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail, superior communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Project Management and Time Management: Ability to manage projects and multi-task effectively, with excellent follow-through and a drive to meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and Professionalism: Must be driven and self-motivated, with the highest ethical standards and a supreme commitment to quality.
