About the Role

The Data Center team at Google designs and operates cutting-edge electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems. As a Facilities Technician, you will operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the uptime, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical system distribution, monitoring multiple information streams in the control room and making accurate mission-critical decisions.
  • Develop approaches to reduce operational costs while improving efficiencies, providing tracking and trending of operational characteristics, and offering operational and maintenance insights into the design review process.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain data center facilities systems and equipment, responding to abnormal conditions, and supporting startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.

Requirements
  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other verifiable training in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of Electrical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and work rotations/shifts.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Dutch fluently, to support the client management in the region as well as interact with local stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environments, or a similar field.
  • Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units).
  • Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
