Research Scientist III

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist III to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing innovative instrumentation solutions from concept to customer adoption.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop complex instrumentation systems, including charged particle beams, high voltage, high vacuum, and precision motion systems.
- Analyze and evaluate new technologies, including publications, patents, and applications, to drive the development of intellectual property.
- Collaborate with colleagues and customers to create innovative projects that drive new markets and applications.
- Report results to business leadership and provide recommendations for further action.
- Doctorate Degree or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or related scientific subject, and 2+ years of industrial experience.
- Expertise in complex instrumentation development, preferably with systems including charged particle beams, high voltage, high vacuum, and precision motion.
- Ability to function in a lab-based research environment, troubleshoot equipment, and implement solutions.
- Data analysis skills using Python, C++, C#, or similar, and hand-eye coordination to handle small delicate objects.
- Knowledge in areas such as electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, microfluidics, optical detection, cryogenic equipment, and surface chemistry.
- Experience with statistical engineering tools and ability to handle large amounts of data.
- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, with strong communication skills to diverse audiences.
