We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at VU Amsterdam. The successful candidate will work on the development of novel optical systems, catheter designs, data processing algorithms, and modeling of scattering and polarization properties of tissue.
The research will be conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J.F. de Boer, an internationally recognized leader in the field of Biophotonics. The candidate will be part of the PhD program of the Biophotonics & Medical Imaging section at the Physics and Astronomy Department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on optical system development, novel catheter designs, data processing algorithms, and modeling of scattering and polarization properties of tissue.
- Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals.
- Present research results at national and international conferences and in relevant journals.
- Write a dissertation leading to a PhD degree.
- Master's degree in (applied) physics or a related field.
- Strong interest in biomedical optics.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
- Good knowledge of optics and experimental skills.
- A challenging position in a socially engaged organization.
- A salary of € 2,000 (PhD) and maximum € 3,000 (PhD) gross per month in the fourth year.
- An employment contract of initially 1 year, extendable to 4 years.
