Job Overview

CS GROUP is seeking a dedicated professional to provide expertise in the domain of space system security engineering, focusing on the space segment. The role involves the design and implementation of security measures, evaluation of vulnerabilities in space systems, and the formulation of effective security strategies. The ideal candidate will be expected to:

  • Assist in the formulation, evaluation, and integration of system security specifications.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a security reference framework for space systems.
  • Participate in system evaluations throughout the project lifecycle, emphasizing security considerations.
  • Identify vulnerabilities, assess their implications, and recommend appropriate security solutions.
  • Review evidence of vulnerability resolutions.
  • Evaluate Requests for Waivers / Requests for Deviation concerning security issues and provide guidance on their viability.
  • Organize and oversee security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing for various projects, analyzing the outcomes thoroughly.
  • Suggest enhancements necessary to bolster the security of space systems.
  • Support the Technical Officer in Research and Development initiatives related to security in space throughout their lifecycle, including drafting Statements of Work, evaluating industry proposals, and aiding in implementation.
  • Assist the Project/System Security Officer or Security Officer as needed.
  • Provide support for laboratory activities as required.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • A Master’s or PhD degree or equivalent in Engineering (preferably in computer science, cybersecurity, telecommunications, or aerospace), with substantial knowledge and experience in security engineering.
  • Familiarity with space systems and ground segment architecture.
  • Understanding of space segment architecture and spacecraft avionics.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices.
  • Basic understanding of applied cryptography.
  • Knowledge of Information Security Management Systems.
  • Awareness of CCSDS protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of RF security is advantageous.
  • Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security authority.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of an additional European language is a plus.
