We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on an innovative project that aims to revolutionize glaucoma management by developing a magnetically adjustable glaucoma implant. The project, funded by the NWO Demonstrator project "EyeFlow", seeks to develop a device that can non-invasively adjust intraocular pressure using an external magnetic actuator.
As a postdoc researcher, you will be embedded in the Microsystems research section at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, headed by prof.dr.ir. Jaap den Toonder. You will be supervised by Dr. Inês Figueiredo Pereira and Prof.dr.ir. Jaap den Toonder, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers and clinicians involved in the project.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in mechanical or biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field, and experience in microfluidics, microfabrication, actuators, and (bio)medical devices. You should also be skilled in practical laboratory work, able to develop and apply theoretical skills, and comfortable with animal experimentation.
The position is full-time for 1.5 years, with an expected start date no later than February 2025. The salary is in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale 10 (min. €4,020 max. €5,278), with additional benefits including a year-end bonus of 8.3%, annual vacation pay of 8%, high-quality training programs, and an excellent technical infrastructure.
In addition to the above benefits, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and ambitious university environment, with access to state-of-the-art micro fabrication facilities and a multidisciplinary consortium. You will also be part of the TU/e Postdoc Association, which provides tailored support, training, and workshops for postdocs.
