About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our team at Damen Shipyards. As a Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for solving complex technical issues that arise in the warranty period. You will act as a technical source of information for colleagues within the organization and work closely with internal departments, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collecting, managing, and solving complex technical issues raised from warranty claims;
  • Collecting, maintaining, and spreading feedback about products and processes to improve products and services;
  • Collating and processing product feedback from within the division and being responsible for initiating and embedding improvements;
  • Independently assessing or co-creating technical specifications, technical drawings, calculations, methodology, and protocols during the commercial phase;
  • Participating in design reviews during the Basic and Detailed Engineering to monitor quality;
  • Identifying potential risks during the commercial phase in the engineering process and deliverables, and formulating proposals to mitigate these risks;
  • Guiding engineers in all phases in a consultative manner;
  • Identifying, creating, and implementing possibilities to standardize systems, materials, components, and tooling in consultation with internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A higher vocational or academic level of thinking in the field of Mechanical engineering or equivalent;
  • A higher knowledge in the field of chemical corrosion;
  • At least 10 years of proven work experience in a similar role;
  • Recent experience with AutoCAD, PDM, and ERP systems;
  • A pragmatic approach to the issues at hand;
  • Decisiveness and flexibility in your approach;
  • A good command of the English language;
  • A result-oriented attitude with initiative.
